Three days of music that make the heart of Montceau vibrate
Born in 2024 from the ashes of the mythical Tango Swing et Bretelles, the BAM Festival is the new musical event in Montceau-les-Mines. For three days at the end of September, L'Embarcadère hosts artists from all musical backgrounds — French variety, rap, urban pop, rock — in a festive and intergenerational atmosphere. The festival perpetuates the tradition of the Foire aux Grattons on Saturday morning, a gourmet and popular anchor of the Montceau mining basin.
In September 2024, a new chapter in the cultural history of Montceau-les-Mines opened with the first edition of the BAM Festival. This festival was born from a desire to completely reinvent the city's festival offerings, after 26 editions of the Tango Swing et Bretelles (TSB) festival, which had gradually lost its audience, especially among younger generations.
The philosophy of the BAM Festival can be summed up in a few words: "three days that look like Montceau". Blending generations, styles, and musical genres, the festival offers a different lineup each evening — from timeless French chanson to current urban music, including rock and international pop.
During the first edition in 2024, the festival attracted 4,500 spectators, including Foire aux Grattons enthusiasts, confirming the public's enthusiasm for this new format. The event unfolds over three evenings with varied formats: seated concert on Thursday for an intimate atmosphere, and standing on Friday and Saturday for a more festive energy.
The BAM Festival takes place at L'Embarcadère, the performance hall of Montceau-les-Mines, which has a main hall and the Salle Antoine Bourdelle for standing concerts. The technical infrastructure — sound, lighting, security — has been enhanced to offer professional conditions for artists and optimal comfort for the audience. The catering service opens at 7 PM, creating a festival village atmosphere.
True to the TSB's heritage, the BAM Festival maintains the Foire aux Grattons on Saturday morning on the church square. This traditional market, a true institution of the mining basin, brings together gourmets and locals around Burgundian specialties in a popular and friendly atmosphere.
Each edition of the BAM Festival is structured around three themed evenings offering a wide musical palette: variety and French chanson on Thursday, rock and pop on Friday, urban music and rap on Saturday. This diversity allows it to reach all audiences and create a truly unifying event for Montceau-les-Mines and the mining basin.
The third edition of the BAM Festival will be held from September 24 to 26, 2026, at L'Embarcadère in Montceau-les-Mines. On the program: François Feldman and Nicoletta on Thursday, Bleu Soleil, FFF, and Joeystarr Sound System on Friday, Marwa Loud and Doria on Saturday, as well as the Foire aux Grattons.
