Relighting the Foire de la Balme

The Festival des Cadoles was born from a simple and audacious dream: to relight the Foire de la Balme, the historic former fairground of Bouhans, a small village in Saône-et-Loire nestled in the Bressane countryside. Driven by the association Le Chaud-Froid, the festival was launched in August 2025 with the ambition of creating a festive, popular event rooted in its territory, where music meets rural traditions and intergenerational sharing.

Electro, Folk, and Techno in a Countryside Setting

Les Cadoles' musical programming navigates between folk pop, live electro, techno, and DJ sets, in a spirit of openness and discovery. The first edition hosted Provisoire (folk pop), Obsimo (live electro), Janett (live techno), as well as DJ sets by Pouvoir Magique (electro), Bobbi Watson (techno), and AKOB (techno). The site opens its doors at 2 PM and buzzes until 4 AM, offering a long evening of music under the Bressane stars.

Much More Than a Music Festival

Les Cadoles cultivates the spirit of a revisited village festival. Beyond music, the festival offers street performances, artisan stalls, country games (the famous Maïs-trou and the chicken-calling contest), and activities for all ages. For food, three food trucks with vegetarian options delight festival-goers, accompanied by Trequi Lager, a beer brewed especially for the event. Camping and parking are free, encouraging a full weekend of immersion.

Les Cadoles: Burgundian Vernacular Heritage

The festival's name pays homage to the cadoles, those small dry-stone huts typical of the Burgundian landscape, once built by winegrowers and shepherds as shelters in the vineyards and pastures. Symbols of ancestral know-how and vernacular architecture now protected, the cadoles embody the spirit of the festival: local roots, simplicity, and friendliness.
