Street art closer to the residents

Les Murmures du Macadam were born from the desire of Thonon Événements to extend the adventure of Les Fondus du Macadam by meeting residents where they live, in the neighborhoods of Thonon-les-Bains. Where Les Fondus take over the city center in the summer, Les Murmures spread out in the spring in the neighborhoods of Châtelard, Collonges Sainte-Hélène, Versoie, and Vongy, bringing performing arts outside of traditional cultural venues.

This geographical and social positioning makes Les Murmures du Macadam a unique event in the street festival landscape, combining artistic ambition with proximity to audiences furthest from cultural offerings.

Circus, theater, and sensory experiences

The programming of Les Murmures du Macadam favors original creations and emerging companies in contemporary circus, theater, dance, and music. The festival emphasizes intimate and poetic artistic forms — radio fictions, object theater, sensory experiences — that blur the lines between the spectacular and the everyday.

The 2025 edition hosted the Collectif La Méandre, Cie Les Îles Voisines, Cie Gravitaire, and Cie Les Arracheurs de Dents, offering new artistic journeys mixing radio-fiction, music, acrobatics, and object theater.

A free and participatory festival

Entirely free and open to all audiences, Les Murmures du Macadam is part of a movement of popular education and cultural democratization. Performances are offered during the day for schoolchildren, while families are invited to discover the shows in the afternoon. The festival thus creates moments of meeting and sharing between artists and residents, transforming everyday spaces into places of wonder.
