Pop, rock and variety music festival at the Pavillon de Grignan
The Nuits d'Istres is one of the oldest and most popular festivals in western Bouches-du-Rhône. Created in the early 1990s, this summer musical event has established itself over the decades as a must-see event of the Provençal summer. Located at the Pavillon de Grignan, avenue Adam de Craponne, the festival benefits from a tree-lined and intimate setting that fosters a unique closeness between the audience and the artists, far from impersonal mega-festivals.
The success of Les Nuits d'Istres lies in the originality of its programming, which boldly blends French chanson, pop, rock, and variety music. Throughout its editions, the festival has hosted international legends such as Iggy Pop, Cindy Lauper, and James Brown, while also giving prominence to leading Francophone artists. Each evening features one or two concerts, with doors opening at 7:30 PM and shows starting at 9 PM, in a warm and festive atmosphere.
Les Nuits d'Istres is supported by the City of Istres, which has made it a pillar of its summer cultural season. The festival attracts a loyal audience each year, a mix of residents from the Étang de Berre area and visitors from all over the PACA region. The Pavillon de Grignan, with its limited capacity and open-air ambiance, offers ideal conditions for experiencing music up close, in a green setting on the edge of the Crau.
The festival spans three to four evenings at the beginning of July, with each concert being an event in itself. Tickets, offered at accessible prices (between 35 and 46 euros depending on the evening), sell out quickly, reflecting the audience's attachment to this summer gathering. Ticketing is available online via Seetickets as well as at the ticket offices of the Istres Tourist Office.
Les Nuits d'Istres return for their 33rd edition from July 9 to 12, 2026, at the Pavillon de Grignan. The program features French artists with Gaëtan Roussel on Thursday, July 9, Kendji Girac on Friday, July 10, and Marine (with Mathilda as the opening act) on Sunday, July 12. Doors open at 7:30 PM for all evenings, with concerts starting at 9 PM. Ticketing is available online via Seetickets and at the Istres Tourist Office.
The festival takes place at the Pavillon de Grignan, avenue Adam de Craponne, 13800 Istres.
