Jazz festival in the heart of the Alpilles, in Saint-Remy-de-Provence
Jazz a Saint-Remy is a festival created in 2008 to revive the great jazz tradition that had made Saint-Remy-de-Provence famous in the 1970s and 1980s. At that time, the Saint-Remy jazz festival was one of the most interesting among French festivals, hosting top international artists. The new format, driven by a team of enthusiasts, focuses on showcasing jazz in all its musical colors, while also opening up to world music and favoring quality French musicians.
The festival takes place in September, usually over a long weekend, with main concerts at the Alpilium, Saint-Remy-de-Provence's performance hall. In parallel, free swing aperitifs liven up the town squares and terraces, offering relaxed musical moments in the late afternoon. These informal gatherings allow for the discovery of young talents and sharing a drink with music in the warm atmosphere of the Alpilles in late summer.
Jazz a Saint-Remy is not limited to concerts: the festival also offers instrumental and vocal jazz workshops, led by professional musicians, at the Hotel de Sade. Jazzy picnics in the farmhouses and estates of the Saint-Remy countryside offer moments of music and gastronomy in bucolic settings. Exhibitions dedicated to jazz complete the program, such as the Cabu Swing exhibition in 2024 at La Cour des Arts.
With its intimate scale and spirit of discovery, Jazz a Saint-Remy has established itself as a human-sized festival, where musical quality takes precedence over the size of the lineup. The concerts at the Alpilium, the dinner-concerts in the town center restaurants, and the free swing aperitifs create a friendly atmosphere that has made this autumn musical event in Provence famous.

The 18th edition of Jazz a Saint-Remy will take place from Thursday, September 17 to Saturday, September 19, 2026, in Saint-Remy-de-Provence. The heart of the festival brings together three evenings of concerts at the Alpilium, the city's performance hall, featuring a demanding jazz program mixing international headliners and young talents.
Thursday, September 17, opens the festival with conservatory students, followed by the R. Lemonnier Sextet. Friday, September 18, highlights the octet bringing together trumpeter Erik Truffaz and saxophonist Antonio Lizana, a fusion of jazz, electro, and flamenco. Saturday, September 19, concludes with the Stefano Di Battista Quintet, led by the Italian saxophonist. In parallel with the evenings at the Alpilium, free swing aperitifs liven up the squares and terraces of the city center.
Beyond the September weekend, the Jazz a Saint-Remy association enlivens the season with a spring concert (Belzaii, May 30, 2026) and the Jazz sous les etoiles evening on July 11, 2026, as well as workshops, jazzy picnics, and exhibitions. True to its spirit of conviviality and discovery, the festival favors an intimate setting where musical quality takes precedence over the size of the lineup.
