Beer, octopus and rock'n'roll on the shores of the Étang de Berre
La Guinguette Sonore is an independent rock festival born in 2018 in Istres, in the Bouches-du-Rhône region. Located on the Plage de la Romaniquette, by the Étang de Berre, this late-summer musical event has forged a strong identity around its slogan: “Beer, octopus & rock'n'roll!!!”. In just a few editions, La Guinguette Sonore has become a much-anticipated event for lovers of indie rock, post-rock, punk, and alternative sounds in the PACA region.
An audacious program mixing discoveries and confirmations
The strength of La Guinguette Sonore lies in its eclectic and audacious programming, which mixes emerging French bands, Marseille-based projects, and international acts. The festival offers two evenings of concerts — on Friday and Saturday — with about ten bands spread across a stage facing the sea. The intimate and friendly format allows spectators to experience the music up close, with their feet in the sand, in a relaxed and festive atmosphere.
A unique seaside setting
The Plage de la Romaniquette offers a unique festival setting in Provence. The stage, set up facing the water, benefits from a spectacular sunset in the early evening, before the spotlights take over to illuminate the night concerts. The site features food trucks, bars, and a "guinguette" atmosphere that lives up to the festival's name. Admission is set at 16 euros per evening or 24 euros for a two-day pass, reflecting the organizers' desire to make rock accessible to everyone.
A commitment to accessibility and inclusion
Since its 8th edition in 2025, La Guinguette Sonore has strengthened its commitment to accessibility. The festival has implemented the Octopulse system for deaf and hard-of-hearing individuals, vibrating vests to feel the music through the body, and two concerts interpreted in sign language. This inclusive approach makes La Guinguette Sonore a pioneering festival in terms of accessibility in the French independent rock scene.
