Les Nuits du 4 Août: A Bubble of Culture in the Jura Countryside

Organized by the Déflagration association, Les Nuits du 4 Août is a multidisciplinary festival held annually in early August at Trépugnat, in the commune of Arthenas / La Chailleuse, in the heart of the Jura. This festival is a genuine cultural offering for everyone in a rural setting, creating an original and curious bubble of culture in a suspended space-time, dedicated to meeting, discovery, and exchange.

A Rich and Eclectic Musical Program

The festival features a musical program that crosses genres without borders: garage-punk, post-punk, darkwave, techno, electro-dub, reggae, flamenco trash, rock, Balkan music, and Latin roots. Each edition brings together about ten bands and artists who perform on stage in a festive and quirky atmosphere.

The 2024 Edition: An Intense Program

The 2024 edition notably hosted Dubamix (electro-dub), Opsa Dehëli (Balkan Latin roots), Sly Sugar (reggae-dub), Bracco (post-punk darkwave techno), TechnoBrass (live electro brass), La Twal (electro punk), and Nesster Donuts (flamenco trash), offering an eclectic panorama of current music.

Live Performances and Revisited Fairground Attractions

Beyond music, Les Nuits du 4 Août offers circus shows, including the spectacular wheel of death (“78 tours” show), burlesque and quirky street theater, and revisited fairground attractions in a creative and poetic spirit. These shows, presented during the day and evening, provide an artistic counterpoint to the concerts.
