Medieval historical reenactment in a Renaissance castle
The Château de la Roche-Courbon, located in Saint-Porchaire, is one of the most beautiful castles in Charente-Maritime. A Renaissance building surrounded by moats and French gardens, it offers an exceptional setting for the annual medieval reenactment.
A real medieval military camp with period tents, authentic weapons, and equipment is set up on the castle's esplanade. Historical reenactment groups present the daily life of medieval warriors, their combat techniques, their weaponry, and their military organization.
A Medieval Market offers artisanal products, period items, leatherwork, blacksmithing, pottery, and other ancestral crafts. Artisans in period costume showcase their traditional skills and offer their creations.
Sword fight demonstrations, archery, jugglers, musicians, and interactive entertainment punctuate this medieval day. Children can participate in medieval games and workshops to discover medieval life in a fun way.
On Sunday, July 19, 2026, the Château de la Roche-Courbon will host its annual medieval festival. On the castle's esplanade, a historical camp, a medieval market, and period entertainment will immerse visitors in the world of the Middle Ages.
This day will allow visitors to discover both the magnificent heritage of the Renaissance castle and experience an immersive journey into the Middle Ages thanks to quality historical reenactments.
