The Gallardon Medieval Festival brings its Middle Ages village to the Parc des Oseraies on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th, 2026, right at the foot of the Épaule ruins. The weekend will be filled with costumed locals, an artisan market, knightly combat, games, workshops, and fire-breathing performances. Admission is free from 2:00 PM on both days, and a medieval banquet will bring guests together on Saturday evening at 7:30 PM.
A medieval weekend on May 23rd and 24th, 2026
The town of Gallardon invites you to the Parc des Oseraies on Saturday, May 23rd and Sunday, May 24th, 2026, for its Medieval Festival. The park, overlooked by the leaning silhouette of the Épaule de Gallardon—the remains of a 12th-century keep—will transform into a medieval village for the weekend. Please note that the site will be under construction starting Friday, May 22nd: traffic and parking will be prohibited from 8:00 AM on Friday until 8:00 PM on Sunday to allow for the setup of camps and stalls.
A medieval village and its costumed inhabitants
The heart of the festival is the recreated village and its costumed residents, who bring daily life from the Middle Ages to life for visitors. Surrounding them is an artisan market where craftsmen work in front of the public and offer their wares. Village life continues throughout both afternoons with no fixed schedule: feel free to wander, move from one camp to another, or linger at a workshop.
Knightly combat, games, and fire shows
Knightly combat demonstrations will punctuate both days, showcasing the weaponry and techniques of the era. Alongside these, games and workshops are open to everyone, young and old, to try their hand at medieval entertainment. The visual highlight of the festival remains the fire-breathing show, a signature of the Gallardon Medieval Festival, which lights up the park and is featured on the 2026 poster.
The Saturday night medieval banquet
On Saturday, May 23rd at 7:30 PM, a medieval banquet will extend the festivities. Tickets are 21 € and must be reserved through the F.P.A. association. For the rest of the weekend, food and drink will be available on-site.
A free, family-friendly festival
Access to the Parc des Oseraies is free and open to all on both days starting at 2:00 PM. The festival is organized by the municipality of Gallardon, in Eure-et-Loir, about twenty kilometers east of Chartres.

The Medieval Festival of Gallardon: immersion in the heart of Beauceron medieval times
Each year, in May, the town of Gallardon in Eure-et-Loir organizes its Medieval Festival, an event that transports visitors centuries back in time. Dominated by the imposing remains of its 12th-century keep, nicknamed "l'Épaule de Gallardon" (the Shoulder of Gallardon), this small town of character has a rich medieval past that naturally lends itself to this type of festivity.
Recreated period camps
At the Parc des Oseraies, historical camps are set up for the weekend. Viking, Celtic, and 13th-century camps recreate daily medieval life with great fidelity: period tents, recreated costumes, utensils, tools, weapons, and military equipment immerse visitors in the atmosphere of medieval times. The reenactors, passionate about living history, animate these camps continuously and readily share their knowledge with the public.
Combat, blacksmithing, and fire shows
Activities punctuate the two days of the festival. Demonstrations of combat techniques with swords, axes, and archery allow visitors to understand the art of medieval warfare. A recreated blacksmithing area welcomes visitors for demonstrations of metalworking and coin minting, while Celtic ceremonies and reenactments of historical battles, such as the Battle of Taillebourg, add a spectacular dimension to the event.
The evenings are marked by impressive fire shows — fire-eaters, flame jugglers — that illuminate the park with a magical and enchanting atmosphere.
Medieval games and activities for everyone
The Medieval Festival of Gallardon is a resolutely family-friendly event. Medieval games accessible to all — jousting, stilts, archery, throwing games — allow both young and old to try out medieval entertainment. Artisans showcase their traditional skills and offer participatory workshops to discover the crafts of the past.
Gallardon, a heritage gem
The festival extends into the historic center of Gallardon, where visitors can explore the picturesque streets, half-timbered houses, and the remains of the town's medieval fortifications. The Shoulder of Gallardon, the remains of a leaning circular keep that has defied the laws of gravity since the 12th century, is the emblem of this town of character that happily combines past and present.
