Every December, the historic district of Montferrand in Clermont-Ferrand dons its festive attire to host Christmas in Montferrand, a warm and authentic Christmas market organized by the Montferrand Neighborhood Committee and its associative partners.

A 100% local market

The Montferrand Christmas market stands out for its 100% local character. Artisans and producers from the region offer:

• Crafts: original creations, jewelry, ceramics, candles, wooden objects
• Regional specialties: Auvergne cheeses, cured meats, honey, jams, gingerbread
• Christmas gifts: handmade gift ideas and local Auvergne products

Two days of festivities

The program spans two days:

Friday evening

• Santa Claus Charity Run: race in Santa Claus costumes with two euros donated to Secours Populaire per participant
• Chalet opening from 5 PM to 10 PM
• Festive atmosphere and neighborhood illuminations

Saturday

• Christmas Market: artisan and producer chalets from 11 AM to 11 PM
• Musical entertainment: concerts and street performances in the medieval streets
• Creative workshops: activities for children and adults
• Short film screenings: session at the Montferrand Town Hall
• Concert and festive guinguette: dancing evening to close the weekend

The historic district in festive attire

Montferrand offers an exceptional setting for a Christmas market. The half-timbered houses, cobblestone streets, and historic squares are illuminated and decorated, creating a magical atmosphere in this remarkably preserved medieval district. Place de la Fontaine, Rue Jules-Guesde, and Place de la Rodade host the chalets and entertainment.
