Planète Satourne: The festival that makes children's eyes shine in Tours
Planète Satourne is the major cultural event for families in Tours during the winter holidays. For over fifteen years, this festival organized by the City of Tours has offered a rich program every February dedicated to the young audience: cine-concerts, screenings, live performances, creative and scientific workshops, exhibitions, and concerts. For two weeks, the entire city becomes accessible to children and their families for a journey into the world of art and culture.
A network of cultural venues mobilized
One of the strengths of Planète Satourne is the mobilization of a network of cultural venues throughout the city of Tours. The Cinémathèque de Tours, the Cinémas Studio, the Petit Faucheux (jazz stage), the Espace Jacques Villeret, the Musée des Beaux-Arts, the Muséum d'Histoire Naturelle, the CCC OD (center for contemporary creation), the Musée du Compagnonnage, the Bateau Ivre, and Le Temps Machine participate in the event. This diversity of venues offers as many entry points to culture and allows families to discover spaces they may not frequent on a daily basis.
From cine-concerts to scientific workshops
The Planète Satourne program covers a very wide artistic spectrum. Cine-concerts, where musicians accompany silent or animated films live, are one of the festival's highlights. Screenings of films for children, live performances (theater, puppets, dance), young audience concerts, and creative and scientific workshops complete a rich and diverse offering. Each edition focuses on a particular theme, such as cinema, music, or nature.
A festival designed for the whole family
Planète Satourne is designed to be a moment of family sharing. The offerings are adapted for all ages, from toddlers to teenagers, including parents and grandparents. Prices are accessible, with many free or reduced-price options, and schedules are designed to adapt to the rhythm of families on vacation. The festival encourages curiosity and discovery, inviting children to experiment, create, and marvel.
An event rooted in the territory
Beyond the city of Tours, Planète Satourne extends its reach throughout the Tours metropolitan area. The festival relies on local cultural players and associations to build its program, creating bridges between structures and fostering collaborations. This territorial anchoring makes Planète Satourne a true tool of cultural policy serving young audiences and the democratization of culture.
