Montélimar Lavender Color — Festival of lavender and Provençal terroir
Every second weekend in July, the city of Montélimar is adorned in purple to celebrate lavender, a symbol of the Provençal terroir. Montélimar Lavender Color, whose 22nd edition took place in 2025, has become a must-attend summer event in the Drôme provençale, attracting hundreds of visitors to discover the many facets of this emblematic plant.
In the heart of the Provençal avenues, a large market brings together producers and artisans around lavender. You can find essential oils, dried bouquets, lavender honey, syrups, lemonades, sorbets, and lavender-flavored chips, as well as soaps, natural cosmetics, and artisanal creations featuring the blue flower in all its forms.
The Montélimar Lavender Color program includes conferences on the uses of lavender and distillation techniques, led by specialists and local producers. Botanical walks allow visitors to discover the plant in its natural environment, learning about its varieties and therapeutic properties.
During the 2025 edition, Montélimar Nougat PGI was the guest of honor at the festival. A parade and inductions by the Nougat Brotherhood punctuated the weekend, accompanied by nougat cooking demonstrations. This association between lavender and nougat perfectly illustrates the richness of the Drôme provençale terroir.
Craft workshops are offered throughout the weekend: making lavender sachets, introduction to distillation, creating natural cosmetics, and many other activities for young and old. Exhibitions of works and products highlighting lavender complete the program.
Montélimar Lavender Color is organized by the Montélimar agglomeration and the Tourist Office. The event showcases the natural and cultural heritage of the Drôme provençale, a land of lavender and nougat, and contributes to the tourist appeal of the city and its region.
The 23rd edition of Montélimar Couleur Lavande takes place on Saturday, July 11 and Sunday, July 12, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 7:00 PM, on the Allées Provençales in Montélimar.
