Noël à Montferrand: A Christmas market in the heart of the medieval district

Every December, the historic Montferrand district in Clermont-Ferrand hosts Noël à Montferrand, a Christmas market organized by the Comité des Quartiers de Montferrand and its partner associations. The event takes place over a single day, on a Saturday.

A 100% local market

Local artisans and producers offer a variety of crafts (handmade creations, jewelry, ceramics, candles, wooden items) and regional specialties (Auvergne cheeses, charcuterie, honey, jams, gingerbread).

The program

The event features an artisan and producer market, musical entertainment and street performances, creative workshops for children and adults, short film screenings at the Montferrand town hall, and an evening concert followed by a guinguette. The market also hosts a charity run, the Corrida des Pères Noël, with proceeds donated to a local charity.

Montferrand provides a stunning medieval backdrop for this Christmas market, with its half-timbered houses, cobbled streets, and illuminated, decorated historic squares. The Place de la Fontaine, Rue Jules-Guesde, and Place de la Rodade host the stalls and festivities.

Noël à Montferrand is organized by the Comité des Quartiers de Montferrand, with the support of ADML 63 (institutional partner), the Association Commerces et Services à Montferrand (merchant mobilization), the Association de Sauvegarde de l'Apothicaire de Montferrand (heritage promotion), and the association Médiévales Montferrand (medieval entertainment).
