For four days in August, the festival hosts over 100 bands on four stages, covering everything from heavy metal to black metal, punk, and hardcore. With over 40,000 festival-goers, Motocultor is a benchmark in the European metal scene.

The essential metal gathering in Brittany

Founded in 2007 by Yann Le Baraillec and the association Motocultor Fest Prod, Motocultor Festival was born out of a passion for extreme music and a desire to create an internationally renowned metal event in Brittany. Initially held indoors in Saint-Avé, the festival took flight in 2010 by becoming an open-air event at the Kerboulard site in Saint-Nolff, in the Morbihan region. This transformation allowed Motocultor to develop rapidly and establish itself as one of the largest metal festivals in France.

A leading international lineup

Each year, Motocultor Festival presents an exceptional lineup featuring over 100 bands on four stages over four days. The program covers the entire spectrum of extreme music: heavy metal, thrash metal, death metal, black metal, doom metal, punk, hardcore, symphonic metal, progressive metal, and many other subgenres. Since its inception, the festival has hosted legends such as Judas Priest, Machine Head, Trivium, Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Ministry, Behemoth, Exodus, Eluveitie, Soulfly, Blind Guardian, and Fear Factory, alongside numerous emerging French and international bands.

From Saint-Nolff to Carhaix: controlled growth

After more than a decade at the Kerboulard site in Saint-Nolff, Motocultor Festival took a decisive step in 2023 by moving to the Kerampuilh site in Carhaix-Plouguer, in the Finistère region. This relocation, driven by the need for larger infrastructure to accommodate an ever-growing audience, allowed the festival to increase its capacity while retaining its identity and community spirit. The Kerampuilh site, also used by the Vieilles Charrues festival, offers optimal logistical conditions for an event of this scale.

A community and festive spirit

Beyond the music, Motocultor Festival is distinguished by its warm and family-friendly atmosphere, characteristic of large metal gatherings. The site offers a large free campsite, various food stalls, an association village, and entertainment throughout the day. The organizing team, composed of passionate volunteers, ensures a welcoming and safe environment where every festival-goer can fully live their passion for extreme music. Motocultor is also committed to an eco-responsible approach with waste sorting, the use of reusable cups, and the promotion of public transport.

A major player in the European metal scene

In less than twenty years, Motocultor Festival has risen to become one of Europe's largest metal festivals, rivaling events like Hellfest in Loire-Atlantique or Wacken Open Air in Germany. Its bold programming, blending global headliners and niche discoveries, makes it a prime meeting place for the international metal community. The festival also contributes to the cultural and economic dynamism of Brittany, attracting tens of thousands of visitors from across Europe each year.
