About Music Festival in Carpentras
Every June 21st, Carpentras celebrates the Fête de la Musique: conservatory students, amateur musicians, and local artists freely take over the squares, forecourts, and streets of the historic center. Organized by the City of Carpentras, the day is entirely free and open to all, from the forecourt of Saint-Siffrein Cathedral to the heart of the Comtadine city.
The Fête de la Musique in Carpentras
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Carpentras into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music freely takes over public spaces, from the afternoon until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences, at the foot of the monuments of the Vaucluse prefecture.
A festival in the historic center
Usually, the festival unfolds in Carpentras city center: the La Charité cultural center and its courtyard host the municipal conservatory ensembles, while the forecourt of Saint-Siffrein Cathedral, the squares, and forecourts of the old center host open-air concerts, open stages, and young talent showcases. The city center's cafes and brasseries extend the entertainment into the evening.
