Free concerts throughout the city around June 21, 2026
Each year around June 21, Mâcon celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) throughout the city center. Organized by the City of Mâcon, the festival sets up its free stages from the Esplanade Lamartine to the Scène sur l'eau (Stage on the Water), passing through streets, squares, bars, and cultural venues. Variety, funk, rock, rap, jazz, electro, reggae, and world music: all styles are present, free of charge.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Mâcon into an open-air stage at the arrival of summer. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until late at night, in all genres and for all audiences. In Mâcon, the City extends the celebration over several days around June 21, with a rich program spread throughout the city center.
The highlight of the festival takes place on the Esplanade Lamartine, along the Saône, which hosts the main open-air concerts. A few steps away, the Scène sur l'eau (Stage on the Water) sets up a floating stage opposite Quai Lamartine, while the streets, terraces, squares, and bars of the city center (Rue Franche, place Saint-Antoine, Crescent Jazz Club, Le Saint-Antoine, L'Œil du Dragon, Le Bergen, and many others) welcome bands, brass bands, choirs, DJs, and amateur musicians.
Genres coexist without hierarchy: variety, funk, hip-hop, rock, metal, jazz, electro, reggae, swing, world music, and French chanson. A family program is also offered, with activities for young audiences and participatory sessions.
