Free concerts in the city center on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Pontarlier celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): the city center of the capital of Haut-Doubs transforms into an open-air stage, with concerts, open-air cafes (guinguettes), DJs, orchestras, choirs, and dances in the squares and streets. Organized by the City of Pontarlier, the evening is entirely free and open to all, featuring all musical styles.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms Pontarlier's city center into an open stage every June 21. Music freely takes over the squares and streets of the city center, in the evening and late into the night, across all genres and for all audiences.
Typically, the festival unfolds across about ten entertainment sites spread throughout the city center, thanks to the mobilization of municipal structures, local cultural associations, and numerous groups and artists from the region. You'll find orchestras and choirs as well as open-air cafes (guinguettes), bands, DJs, and dance performances, from French chanson to electro, country, world music, and conservatory ensembles. Food trucks, refreshment stands, and small catering options are set up in the squares.
