Free concerts in the bastide on June 21, 2026
Every June 21, Villefranche-de-Rouergue celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, local talents, and regional artists bring the squares and streets of the royal bastide, in Aveyron, to life for free. Supported by the municipality and its partners (associations, café owners, and shopkeepers), the day is entirely free and open to all.
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the royal bastide of Villefranche-de-Rouergue into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from the afternoon until late in the evening, in all genres and for all audiences.
Usually, the festival unfolds in several emblematic locations in the historic center — around Place Notre-Dame and the collegiate church, in the shopping streets and on café terraces —, mixing repertoires: gospel, flamenco, world music, jazz, classical music, and carillon. Local talents perform alongside conservatory ensembles and cultural associations from the Villefranchois area.
For the 2026 edition, a special open stage for young talents, followed by a DJ set, has already been announced for Place de la Collégiale in the evening: singers and instrumentalists, solo or in groups and of all styles, are invited to perform.
