Every June 21, Villeurbanne celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival) as part of Les Invites de Villeurbanne, the international street arts festival. Committed concerts, punk-rap, chanson, electro, and queer parties freely take over Ateliers Frappaz and Parc des Droits-de-l'Homme. Organized by the City of Villeurbanne and Ateliers Frappaz, the day is entirely free and open to all.

Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms public spaces into open-air stages every June 21. In Villeurbanne, it is at the heart of Les Invites de Villeurbanne, the major international street arts festival that brings together over a hundred free shows throughout the city every summer.

In 2026, Les Invites celebrates its 19th edition from June 19 to 21, with dozens of shows spread between Ateliers Frappaz, Parc des Droits-de-l'Homme, Parc de la Commune, and Place Chanoine Boursier. On June 21, the day of the Fête de la Musique, the musical program takes over in the evening: committed concerts, gritty chanson, punk-rap energy, queer circus, and DJ sets follow one another until late into the night.
A festival that is « popular, committed, open, feminist, queer, and inclusive », Les Invites welcomes artists from several countries and throughout the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. All shows are free and require no registration, some with limited capacity.
