About Nantes Music Festival
Every June 21, Nantes celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, music school students, and professional artists perform for free in the streets, squares, and along the banks of the Loire. Organized by Nantes Métropole, the day is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Nantes
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Nantes into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until the heart of the night, across all genres and for all audiences.
A Celebration Throughout the City Center
Usually, Nantes' city center is given over to musicians and strollers: the medieval Bouffay district and its narrow streets, Place du Commerce, and Place Royale host open-air concerts, while the banks of the Loire extend the celebration into the evening. An acoustic stage is also dedicated each year to amateur musical practices.
