Natal Capoeirando: Capoeira in the heart of Mayenne

Natal Capoeirando was born from the passion of a group of capoeiristas based in Villaines-la-Juhel, in the north of Mayenne. Founded by the association COB – Capoeira Origem do Brasil, this festival was created to celebrate Brazilian culture while carrying a message of international solidarity. Since its first edition, the event has continued to grow, attracting practitioners and curious visitors from all over the Grand Ouest region.

A rich program between workshops and shows

Each edition of Natal Capoeirando revolves around several highlights:

• Capoeira workshops led by renowned masters and contramestres, open to practitioners of all levels, from beginners to advanced.
• Rodas de capoeira, these traditional circles where game, music, and song are expressed, at the heart of the practice.
• Brazilian dinner show open to all, combining gastronomy, dances (samba, maculelê, puxada de rede), and live music.
• Introductions to Brazilian dance, acrobatics, and percussion for the general public.
• Concerts of Brazilian and Afro-Latin music that conclude the weekend in a festive atmosphere.

A strong solidarity commitment

Natal Capoeirando stands out for its charitable dimension. All profits from the evening are donated to the Arte Ger'Ação project, an initiative that supports children in difficulty in Salvador de Bahia, Brazil, the historical cradle of capoeira. This project offers young people access to education, culture, and sports through the practice of capoeira.

An international movement

Since 2020, Natal Capoeirando has been part of an international movement active in several countries: Germany, France, Hungary, and Denmark. In France, about ten cities participate in this solidarity movement, making Villaines-la-Juhel one of the anchor points of this great initiative. The festival brings together capoeiristas from all over France and Europe each year, creating a unique moment of intercultural exchange in a rural Mayenne setting.
