Parade, concert, and fireworks on the banks of the Loire for the National Day
Every year around July 14th, the City of Blois organizes the National Day celebrations with a festive and popular program in the heart of the city center and on the banks of the Loire. The evening begins with an official ceremony at Place de la Résistance, followed by a free concert on the Loire quays, and then fireworks launched from the riverbanks, visible from the Pont Jacques-Gabriel, La Creusille, and the gardens of the bishopric. Over twenty minutes of pyrotechnic show light up the Blois sky in an exceptional heritage setting.
The celebrations for July 14th in Blois are an unmissable event of the Blois summer. The City of Blois organizes a festive and popular evening each year that attracts thousands of spectators to the banks of the Loire, in an exceptional heritage setting: the Pont Jacques-Gabriel, the Royal Château, and the historic facades of the city center provide a magnificent backdrop for the show.
The evening begins with an official ceremony at Place de la Résistance, with the traditional military parade. Elected officials, representatives of the armed forces, and veterans' associations participate in this republican tribute. The ceremony is open to the public and is a solemn moment before the festivities.
After the ceremony, a grand free concert is organized on the banks of the Loire. The lineup varies each year and features renowned artists: the 2025 edition notably hosted Les Fatals Picards, an emblematic French band known for their quirky songs, who electrified the crowd starting at 9 PM. The festive atmosphere on the Loire quays, with its guinguettes and refreshment stands, creates a unique popular festival ambiance.
The highlight of the evening is the fireworks display, launched from the banks of the Loire at 11:00 PM. For about twenty minutes, the pyrotechnic show unfolds in 17 scenes above the river, creating magical reflections on the waters of the Loire and illuminating the facades of Blois's monuments. The best viewing spots are La Creusille, the Pont Jacques-Gabriel, and the Jardins de l'Évêché.
The City of Blois is committed to an eco-responsible fireworks display: elimination of aluminum and plastic caps from pyrotechnic products, preferential use of cardboard projectiles, control of sound emissions to protect wildlife, use of reusable firing supports, and recycling of copper and cardboard. This environmental commitment demonstrates the desire to reconcile festivities with respect for the natural heritage of the Loire region.
The celebrations are held annually on July 13th or 14th (depending on the calendar). The evening begins at 7:00 PM with the official ceremony, continues with the concert around 9:00 PM, and concludes with the fireworks at 11:00 PM.
Free admission for all festivities.
