The digital arts biennale of Île-de-France
Némo — International Digital Arts Biennale is a major event of the Île-de-France region, produced by CENTQUATRE-PARIS (104) in the 19th arrondissement. Created at the initiative of the Region and CENTQUATRE, the biennale has established itself as the benchmark event for digital arts in France, offering an exceptional panorama of international digital creation every two years. Under the artistic direction of Gilles Alvarez and José-Manuel Gonçalvès, Némo explores the frontiers between art, technology, and science.
CENTQUATRE-PARIS: Epicenter of digital creation
The heart of the biennale beats at CENTQUATRE-PARIS, a former municipal funeral service of the City of Paris converted into a multidisciplinary artistic establishment in 2008. Located at 5 rue Curial in the 19th arrondissement, this immense 39,000 m² space offers an industrial and spectacular setting perfectly suited for monumental digital installations, audiovisual performances, and immersive experiences. Beyond CENTQUATRE, Némo reaches about twenty partner venues throughout Île-de-France.
2023 Edition: “I is Another?”
The 5th edition of the Némo Biennale took place from September 30, 2023, to January 7, 2024, under the theme “I is Another?”, a quote from Rimbaud questioning the transformations of identity in the digital age. This edition featured 8 exhibitions and 24 shows in about twenty venues across Île-de-France, exploring themes of otherness, artificial intelligence, and the changing relationship with the body and reality.

A Laboratory for Tomorrow's Art
Némo positions itself as a true laboratory for digital creation, at the crossroads of visual arts, performing arts, music, and sciences. Each edition brings together artists, researchers, engineers, and philosophers to imagine the artistic forms of tomorrow together. Live audiovisual performances, immersive installations, electronic music concerts, and virtual reality experiences form the core of a program resolutely focused on the future.
