Brass band and brass instruments festival in the heart of Mimizan
The Océan Brass Festival is a musical event dedicated to brass and percussion ensembles, organized every autumn in Mimizan. Created in 2023 by the Mimizan town hall, this festival offers indoor concerts, street parades, and musical encounters centered around brass bands and fanfares. From classical to jazz and Afro-Cuban music, it revitalizes the Landes region outside the summer season.
The Océan Brass Festival was born in 2023 from the will of the city of Mimizan to offer a major cultural and festive event outside the summer season. The endeavor is successful: from its very first edition, the festival has established itself as a unique event in the Landes festival landscape, entirely dedicated to brass and percussion ensembles.
A brass band is a musical ensemble composed of instruments from the brass family (trumpets, cornets, trombones, tubas, euphoniums, bugles) and percussion. This formation allows for a vast repertoire ranging from classical music to adaptations of symphonic compositions, including jazz, world music, and contemporary creations.
Each edition of the Océan Brass Festival brings together brass ensembles from France and Europe:
Since its creation, the festival has hosted prestigious groups such as German Brass, Bocalé Brass Band, Brass Band Borgiaq, Big Band Côte Sud, and high-quality local ensembles. The program blends international ensembles and regional talents in a spirit of musical exchange and sharing.
The Océan Brass Festival takes over the heart of Mimizan, between Le Forum and Le Parnasse, transforming the town center into a vast musical stage. The street parades of fanfares create a festive and friendly atmosphere that appeals to both seasoned music lovers and passersby.
After a remarkable first edition in 2023, the Océan Brass Festival confirmed its success during its second edition in 2024, praised for its exchanges and emotions. The third edition in 2025 confirms the festival's strong presence in the cultural calendar of the Landes.
