Oktoberfest de Dax: Landes artisanal beer in the spotlight

The Oktoberfest de Dax is a festive event celebrating the artisanal beer brewed in the Landes and Pays de l'Adour. Created in 2023 on the initiative of the Association des Brasseries des Pays de l'Adour, this festival takes place every first Sunday of October on the Carreau des Halles, in the heart of Dax city center.

Six artisanal breweries gathered

The Oktoberfest de Dax brings together six artisanal breweries from the region: Brasserie L'Expérimt'Halle from Dax, Brasserie du Bahus, Brasserie Naturelle des Landes, L'Âge de Bière, Brasserie Clouque, and Une Petite Dernière. Each brewer offers a selection of their best creations: blonde, amber, brown, IPA, stout, and seasonal beers, all brewed artisanally with quality ingredients.

Adour Pale Ale: the collaborative beer

One of the highlights of the Oktoberfest de Dax is the tasting of the Adour Pale Ale, a blonde beer brewed especially for the occasion by the six participating breweries. This pale ale with light malty notes, herbal and fruity hints leaning towards citrus, with a slight bitterness, is the symbol of collaboration between the Landes brewers.

Bavarian atmosphere in the heart of the Landes

The Oktoberfest de Dax offers a festive atmosphere inspired by Bavarian tradition. The association Adur Musikanten livens up the day with a Bavarian musical repertoire played by musicians in traditional costume. The day begins with the traditional Fassanstich (tapping of the first keg) at 10 a.m., officially launching the festivities.

Gastronomy and entertainment

The tasting of artisanal beers is accompanied by a local food offering: charcuterie platters, pretzels, grilled sausages, and other specialties that combine Landes gastronomy with Bavarian touches. Games, beer quizzes, and entertainment for the whole family complete the program, making the Oktoberfest de Dax a friendly and accessible event for everyone.

An event rooted in the Landes brewing revival

The Oktoberfest de Dax demonstrates the dynamism of the artisanal brewing scene in the Landes and Pays de l'Adour. In a few years, several artisanal breweries have been created in the department, offering original and quality beers that rival the best French productions. This annual festival is an opportunity to discover and support these local artisanal brewers.
