Celebration of the Pyrenean draft horse in Val d'Azun
The draft horse is inseparable from the agricultural history of the Val d'Azun. Since 1998, this festival has celebrated this emblematic animal of the Pyrenean mountains through draft horse competitions organized by the Haras Nationaux de Tarbes, pitting the Comtois, Breton, Ardennais, Auxois, and Percheron breeds against each other.
After fourteen editions in Aucun, the Fête du Cheval de Trait merged in 2015 with the Foire aux Côtelettes to give birth to "Terre de Montagne", the agricultural fair of Val d'Azun organized in Arrens-Marsous. This new event expands the program to include cattle, sheep, goats, and poultry, while keeping equestrian shows and horse competitions at the heart of the programming.
Over three days in October, the event offers a professional exhibition, carriage rides, hikes, horse work demonstrations, a large open-air farm with over 200 animals, concerts and Pyrenean musical entertainment, as well as meals and dancing evenings.
Join us from October 9th to 11th, 2026 in Arrens-Marsous for the new edition of Terre de Montagne, the agricultural fair of Val d'Azun that perpetuates the tradition of the Fête du Cheval de Trait. Competitions, equestrian shows, educational farm, and Pyrenean terroir.
Arrens-Marsous is located in the Val d'Azun, about 30 km south of Lourdes.
