Opéra des Landes: Lyric Art in the Heart of the Landes

Opéra des Landes is an artistic and human adventure born in 2001 in Soustons, under the impetus of Olivier Tousis and the Association pour l'Art Lyrique en Aquitaine (APALA). For over twenty years, this lyric festival has offered high-quality opera productions, recitals, and concerts every summer in a unique setting, between pine forest and marine lake.

Ambitious Opera Productions

Each edition stages one or more operas from the classical and lyric repertoire:

• Classical Operas: Mozart, Verdi, Puccini, Bizet, and other great composers
• Operettas: Light and festive repertoire adapted to the summer setting
• Chamber Music: Quartets, recitals, and intimate concerts
• Musical Shows: Original creations and thematic programs

The Opera Academy

One of the particularities of Opéra des Landes is its Opera Academy, which hosts a dozen young singers from around the world (particularly from the United States) each year to perfect their skills and perform on stage. This educational component makes Soustons a place for training and discovering young lyric talents.

A Festival Rooted in its Territory

Performances mainly take place at the Espace Culturel Roger Hanin and in the Parc de la Pandelle, offering remarkable acoustic conditions and a natural setting. Opéra des Landes also offers "impromptus" in surrounding towns and "meet-and-greets" with artists, contributing to the cultural influence of the resort of Soustons and the Landes coast.
