The showcase of contemporary Israeli cinema in France
Founded in 2001, the Paris Israeli Film Festival was born from the desire to make the richness and diversity of Israeli cinema, one of the most creative and awarded in the world, known to the French and European public. Every year in March, the festival takes over the screens of the Cinéma Majestic Passy in the 16th arrondissement of Paris for a week of screenings, meetings, and debates.
The film selection is made after the major Israeli festivals — Jerusalem, Doc Aviv, and Haifa — guaranteeing a top-tier program that presents the best of the year's Israeli film production. Each edition offers about ten feature films, several documentaries, and a short film competition, providing a comprehensive panorama of contemporary Israeli cinema.
Throughout its editions, the festival has helped introduce many major Israeli filmmakers to France. Screenings are systematically followed by meetings with the directors, creating a valuable dialogue between filmmakers and the audience. Retrospectives and tributes complete the program, offering a historical perspective on Israeli cinema.
The Paris Israeli Film Festival benefits from the support of leading institutional partners: the City of Paris, the David Hadida Foundation, the Embassy of Israel in France, the Shoah Memorial, the Israel Film Fund, the Rothschild Foundation, and the French Judaism Foundation. This network of support testifies to the cultural and diplomatic importance of the festival.
The festival's atmosphere is both cinephile and warm. The Cinéma Majestic Passy, an art-house cinema nestled in the 16th arrondissement, offers an intimate setting conducive to exchange. Each edition is sponsored by a personality from the world of cinema, who accompanies the festival with their presence and insight. The festival attracts a loyal audience of film lovers, members of the Franco-Israeli community, and the curious drawn by the quality of the programming.
The Paris Israeli Film Festival returns for its 26th edition from March 16 to 24, 2026, at Cinéma Majestic Passy. This edition is under the patronage of director Radu Mihăileanu, a filmmaker of exile and memory, known for his films Train de vie, Va, vis et deviens, and Le Concert.
