A classical music festival in the land of George Sand
The Pentecôte en Berry festival is the flagship event of the association Musiciens Ensemble, which promotes classical music in the Berry region, the land of George Sand and Frédéric Chopin. Every year around Pentecost weekend, renowned musicians gather at La Grange aux Pianos in Chassignolles for high-quality chamber music concerts and recitals.
La Grange aux Pianos, a unique venue in France
La Grange aux Pianos is a unique music venue in France, nestled in the heart of nature in the hamlet of Les Chattons in Chassignolles. Pianist Cyril Huvé, the festival's artistic director, has installed five pianos there, as well as a library filled with rare scores and documents on music history. This converted barn offers an intimate and acoustically remarkable setting for chamber music concerts.
A demanding program
The festival invites committed performers to work together on selected works and create unique moments in a true family spirit. The program features great classical and romantic composers, with a particular interest in historical instruments. The 2025 edition notably celebrated Claude Debussy with renowned pianists such as Georges Pludermacher, Philippe Cassard, and Jean-Marc Luisada, as well as baritone François Le Roux.
Lectures and workshops
Beyond the concerts, the festival offers musicological lectures with specialists who present the composer's workshop for the works performed each day. These educational sessions enrich the musical experience and allow the public to better understand the performed works. The festival also organizes an Academy for young musicians, perpetuating the transmission of musical knowledge.
