Pianos en Arbois: exceptional instruments in a heritage setting
The Pianos en Arbois festival is a unique musical event that celebrates piano and chamber music in the heritage sites of the Coeur du Jura: Arbois, Poligny, and Salins-les-Bains. This intimate festival highlights prestigious antique pianos in remarkable architectural settings.
Exceptional pianos
The association behind the festival has brought together a collection of five antique pianos of French and European make: Gaveau, Pleyel, Erard, Bechstein, and Grotrian-Steinweg. These exceptional instruments, carefully restored, offer unique sounds that allow a rediscovery of the classical repertoire as conceived by its composers. Each concert is an opportunity to hear these pianos in venues whose acoustics enhance their unique timbre.
Concerts in historic venues
Concerts take place in heritage sites in and around Arbois: the Salle du Tribunal, the Église Saint-Just, and other historic buildings. These historically rich locations offer an ideal acoustic setting for chamber music and piano recitals.
Demanding classical programming
The festival offers a high-level classical music program, highlighting great composers: Haydn, Chopin, Schubert, Debussy, Ravel, and many others. The 2025 edition hosted artists such as Paloma Kouider (piano), Anna Goekel (violin), and Chloé Ducray (harp), performing works by Debussy and Ravel on these historic instruments.
