Poly'Sons: Francophone song celebrated in Montbrison
Since 2004, the Poly'Sons festival has established itself as the winter gathering for francophone song in the Loire department. Initiated by the Théâtre des Pénitents, a regional stage labeled Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes and a departmental stage in partnership with Loire Forez Agglomération, this festival has built a lasting connection with its audience by offering a demanding yet accessible program each year.
A festival rooted in its territory
Located in the heart of Montbrison, a sub-prefecture of the Loire and former capital of Forez, the festival primarily uses the Espace Guy Poirieux and the Théâtre des Pénitents. Some evenings also take place in partner venues such as the Château de Goutelas in Marcoux or La Passerelle in Saint-Just-Saint-Rambert, thus extending the festival's reach across the Loire Forez territory.
Poly'Sons benefits from the support of the City of Montbrison, Loire Forez Agglomération, the Department of the Loire, and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region, demonstrating its importance in the local cultural landscape.
An eclectic program for song lovers
Each edition of the festival features around twenty concerts spread over three to four weeks. The program mixes renowned artists and new discoveries, offering a broad panorama of contemporary francophone song. Iconic figures such as Louis Chedid, Catherine Ringer, Yves Jamait, Thomas Fersen, La Grande Sophie, and Dick Annegarn have graced the Montbrison stage, alongside emerging talents and local bands.
The festival also includes the Tremplin des Poly'Sons, a talent scouting initiative for young artists that contributes to the vitality of the regional music scene.
A popular and friendly event
With affordable prices and a warm atmosphere, Poly'Sons attracts a loyal and curious audience each year, composed of families, music lovers, and festival-goers from across the department. The festival has become a highlight of the winter cultural life in the Loire, offering a welcome musical interlude in the heart of the Forez winter.
