Classical music festival in Pornic
Created in 2012 by the City of Pornic, the Pornic Classic Festival has become an unmissable autumn event on the Jade coast. Each year, over a weekend, the festival brings together internationally renowned artists, specialized ensembles, accomplished soloists, and young talents at the beginning of a great career. This intergenerational meeting constitutes the strength and identity of the festival. The works performed are presented and commented on by the artists themselves, making each concert both educational and moving. Since its creation, Pornic Classic has hosted prestigious artists such as Anne Queffélec, Nathalie Dessay, Renaud Capuçon, the Pražák Quartet, Jean-François Zygel, Henri Demarquette, and François Dumont.
Since its launch in the autumn of 2012, the Pornic Classic Festival has continuously reinvented itself to attract new audiences and has established itself as a flagship autumn event in Pornic, eagerly awaited by music lovers in the region. Organized by the association Pornic Classic with the support of the City of Pornic, the festival aims to introduce classical music to as many people as possible.
In its fourteen years of existence, Pornic Classic has affirmed itself as a unique event, both intimate in its format and ambitious in its programming. The concerts take place in several emblematic venues in the town — the Espace culturel du Val Saint-Martin, the Casino de Pornic, the Théâtre Saint-Gilles, and the Chapelle de l'Hôpital — creating a unique proximity between artists and the public.
Since 2012, the festival has hosted a brilliant program with leading artists: pianist Anne Queffélec, soprano Nathalie Dessay, violinist Renaud Capuçon, pianist Jean-François Zygel, cellist Henri Demarquette, the Pražák Quartet, the Debussy Quartet, soprano Helen Kearns, pianist Jean-Marc Luisada, and the faithful François Dumont. Each edition also highlights promising young talents, winners of international competitions.
The festival offers a varied program mixing chamber music, recitals, symphonic concerts, and baroque music. Free concerts complement the paid program, including performances by the municipal music school and aperitif concerts, reinforcing the popular and accessible dimension of the event.
True to its mission of democratization, Pornic Classic offers deliberately affordable prices with a full price of €28, a reduced price of €20, and a youth price (under 25) of €10. A festival pass allows access to all paid concerts at a preferential rate.
The 14th edition of the Pornic Classic Festival will take place on October 18 and 19, 2025. The opening concert will feature Renaud Capuçon and François Dumont in a program of French music celebrating the 150th anniversary of Ravel's birth. The closing concert will be entrusted to countertenor Carlo Vistoli and the ensemble Les Accents for an immersion into the baroque Italy of Vivaldi.
For its 14th edition, the Pornic Classic Festival offers an artistic journey between France and Italy, balancing essential masterpieces with rare discoveries, heritage with the future, intimacy with grandeur.
On Saturday, October 18 at 8:30 PM, the City of Pornic is particularly proud to welcome Renaud Capuçon, a major figure of French violin, accompanied by pianist François Dumont. The program, dedicated to French music from Fauré to Ravel, celebrates the 150th anniversary of Maurice Ravel's birth with the posthumous Sonata for Violin and Piano, Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 2, and Sonata for Violin and Piano No. 1 Op. 13 by Fauré.
On Sunday, October 19 at 11 AM, two young pianists of brilliant talent, laureates of the prestigious Henri Kowalski International Competition in Dinan — Japanese Mirai Sumino and Russian Georgii Krizhnenko — will offer recitals showcasing the exceptional next generation of the world piano scene.
On Sunday, October 19 at 5 PM, countertenor Carlo Vistoli and the ensemble Les Accents will offer an immersion into the baroque Italy of Vivaldi, alternating sacred and opera arias with brilliant concertos.
