Rat's Cup: Surf and Music in the Heart of Biarritz

Since 2003, the Rat's Cup has been making the Côte des Basques vibrate to the rhythm of surf and music. Born from the passion of young Biarritz surfers, this festival has become an emblematic event for the start of the season, combining high-level surf competitions, skate demos, and live concerts in a resolutely festive and Basque atmosphere.

High-Level Surf Competitions

The heart of the Rat's Cup beats on the waves of the Côte des Basques. The surf competitions bring together international and local surfers who compete on one of Europe's most beautiful waves. Sessions take place throughout the day, from 9 am until dusk, offering high-quality sporting spectacle in an exceptional natural setting.

Skate and Music

In parallel with the surf competitions, the festival offers:

  • Skateboard demonstrations: initiations and demos on a mini-ramp, with experienced riders animating the beach
  • Live concerts: every evening, from 5:30 pm to 1 am, the beach transforms into an open-air concert venue. In 2025, the music programming budget has been doubled for even more memorable evenings

The Basque Spirit

The Rat's Cup cultivates an authentically Basque spirit: friendly, festive, and warm. The association ALC Elkartea, which has organized the festival since its inception, ensures the preservation of this identity that makes the event unique. The festival attracts a loyal audience who rediscover the unique atmosphere of the Côte des Basques every September.

An Accessible Event

With moderate entry prices (€15 from 5:30 pm on Friday and Saturday, Sunday free) and discounted early bird tickets (€10), the Rat's Cup remains an accessible event. The 500 early bird tickets sell out quickly, demonstrating the enthusiasm for this cult festival in Biarritz.
