The jazz festival of the Lyon scene
Born in 2024 from the will of Le Périscope and BAAM Productions, RÉCIF is the new jazz festival in Lyon that aims to break down barriers and promote jazz aesthetics in all their forms. For five days in April, the festival takes over the emblematic venues of the Lyon music scene — Le Périscope, Le Marché Gare, Le Sucre — to offer a bold program mixing contemporary jazz, improvised music, electro, and hip-hop.
Launched in March 2024, RÉCIF was born from a shared observation by Le Périscope, a free music venue in Lyon, and producer BAAM Productions: since the disappearance of the À Vaulx Jazz festival in 2019, Lyon has been lacking a major event dedicated to contemporary jazz. RÉCIF fills this void with ambition, offering a vibrant and open panorama of current jazz music.
RÉCIF unfolds in three emblematic venues of the Lyon music scene: Le Périscope (a contemporary music and jazz venue, labeled SMAC), Le Marché Gare, and Le Sucre, a major hub of Lyon's nightlife located on the roof of La Sucrière in the Confluence district. This multi-site setup allows the festival to offer varied formats, from intimate concerts to festive evenings, including jam sessions and meetings.
True to the spirit of Le Périscope, RÉCIF champions a living jazz, open to the world and other aesthetics. The program mixes contemporary jazz, improvised music, electro, rock, and hip-hop, with a particular focus on emerging scenes and artists who challenge conventions. Each edition features about fifteen concerts with a single ticket price per evening giving access to the entire program.
The first edition, from March 26 to 30, 2024, featured 14 concerts bringing together 39 musicians from all backgrounds in three venues (Le Périscope, La Chapelle de la Trinité, Le Marché Gare). The success was immediate, confirming the need for such an event in Lyon's cultural landscape.
Located at 13 rue Delandine in the 2nd arrondissement of Lyon, Le Périscope has been the temple of jazz and improvised music in Lyon since 2007. As a SMAC (Scène de Musiques Actuelles conventionnée), it hosts over 100 concerts per year and serves as the natural home base for the RÉCIF festival.
The 3rd edition of RÉCIF will be held from April 14th to 18th, 2026, at Le Périscope, Le Marché Gare, and Le Sucre. 14 concerts over 5 days with artists like ZU, PIXVAE, FŒHN, GREMS, and AMG. Single ticket price per evening to access the entire program.
