3rd edition — July 2 to 5, 2026

Soïo Mundo returns for its 3rd edition from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026 at Parc Sergent Blandan, in Lyon 7e. For four days, the free world music festival will make the park vibrate to the rhythm of on-stage and off-stage concerts, DJ sets, musical practice workshops, and numerous participatory activities.

A folk ball to open the festival

The 2026 edition opens on Thursday, July 2 with a grand folk ball organized in partnership with Les Nuits de Fourvière, celebrating the vitality and modernity of traditional regional music. The program for this evening includes: Sorgues and its repertoire of Périgord songs geared towards dance, Cocanha and its Occitan polyphonies, and Fleuves for a Breton fest-noz with collective trance vibes.

A program from all continents

On the following days, the program brings together artists from all over the world: the Zawose Queens and their Wagogo afro-trad from Tanzania, InSen for Tunisian electro beats, Lwanbe which blends Creole bass, maloya, and Réunionnais hip-hop, Meral Polat and her Anatolian psychedelic rock tinged with blues, and the Japanese group Ajate which fuses ancestral ohayashi music and afrobeat. Several DJ sets (DJ Pompompom, Rhahis, Erica do Futuro & DJ Alé) extend the party.

Workshops, off-stage and activities

Beyond the concerts, Soïo Mundo offers a rich “off-stage” and participatory program: Andean music peña, tango initiation and demonstration, Cape Verdean batuku, vocal workshop, popular dance ball and workshop, rebetiko jam session, Mandingo percussion (AfroCircle) and ethnofanfare. Soïo Mundo: The world in music at Parc Blandan

Born in 2024, Soïo Mundo is the new world music festival in Lyon, supported by the CMTRA (Centre des Musiques Traditionnelles Rhône-Alpes). Heir to a long tradition — the 26 editions of Jeudis des Musiques du Monde at the Jardin des Chartreux (Lyon 1st) — the festival has found new life and a new setting at the Parc Sergent Blandan, a vast green space in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon.

The first edition, in July 2024, welcomed nearly 16,000 people, confirming the enthusiasm of the Lyonnais public for traditional and world music in a festive, friendly, and free setting.

A Festival of Musical Discoveries

Soïo Mundo offers an eclectic program mixing on-stage and off-stage concerts, allowing the public to discover sounds from all continents: electro-Malagasy trances, rumba, samba funk, Gnaoua music, Balkan brass, world voices, and much more. The festival highlights both renowned artists and emerging talents, in a spirit of discovery and sharing.

Practical Information and Participation

Beyond listening, Soïo Mundo invites the public to participate through music practice workshops, participatory sessions of traditional or flamenco music, danced conferences, and dance initiations. Masterclasses and film screenings followed by debates complete the program.

A Committed and Free Festival

Entirely free, Soïo Mundo upholds the values of encounter, diversity, and openness dear to the CMTRA. The festival is accessible on foot and by bike, in an urban park that offers a green and family-friendly setting in the heart of the city. The CMTRA, an association founded in 1987, is a major player in the preservation and dissemination of traditional music in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
