The garden of world music at Parc Blandan
Born in 2024, Soïo Mundo is the new world music festival in Lyon, supported by the CMTRA (Centre des Musiques Traditionnelles Rhône-Alpes). Heir to a long tradition — the 26 editions of Jeudis des Musiques du Monde at the Jardin des Chartreux (Lyon 1st) — the festival has found new life and a new setting at the Parc Sergent Blandan, a vast green space in the 7th arrondissement of Lyon.
The first edition, in July 2024, welcomed nearly 16,000 people, confirming the enthusiasm of the Lyonnais public for traditional and world music in a festive, friendly, and free setting.
Soïo Mundo offers an eclectic program mixing on-stage and off-stage concerts, allowing the public to discover sounds from all continents: electro-Malagasy trances, rumba, samba funk, Gnaoua music, Balkan brass, world voices, and much more. The festival highlights both renowned artists and emerging talents, in a spirit of discovery and sharing.
Beyond listening, Soïo Mundo invites the public to participate through music practice workshops, participatory sessions of traditional or flamenco music, danced conferences, and dance initiations. Masterclasses and film screenings followed by debates complete the program.
Entirely free, Soïo Mundo upholds the values of encounter, diversity, and openness dear to the CMTRA. The festival is accessible on foot and by bike, in an urban park that offers a green and family-friendly setting in the heart of the city. The CMTRA, an association founded in 1987, is a major player in the preservation and dissemination of traditional music in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes.
The 3rd edition of Soïo Mundo will be held from Thursday, July 2 to Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Parc Sergent Blandan, in Lyon 7e. Organized by CMTRA, this free world music festival offers four days of on-stage and off-stage concerts, DJ sets, musical practice workshops, and entertainment. The edition opens on Thursday, July 2, with a grand folk ball in partnership with Les Nuits de Fourvière (Sorgues, Cocanha, Fleuves), followed by international headliners: The Zawose Queens (Tanzania), InSen (Tunisia), Lwanbe (La Réunion), Meral Polat (Anatolian psychedelic rock), and the Japanese group Ajate.

Several DJ sets (DJ Pompompom, Rhahis, Erica do Futuro & DJ Alé) extend the party.
