About Spirit in Black
The Spirit in Black Festival is a metal and incantatory music festival organized by the association Hoplà ! / Headbang between Colmar and Guebwiller. Since 2017, it has offered a demanding and unifying program, from black metal to shamanic folk, including stoner rock and grindcore. After a six-year hiatus, the 2025 "Night Visions" edition celebrates ten years of extreme music in Alsace over three days and two emblematic venues in the Haut-Rhin region.

From Black Metal to Shamanic Folk
Created in 2017 at Le Grillen in Colmar, the Spirit in Black Festival quickly forged a unique identity in the French metal festival scene. Driven by the association Hoplà ! / Headbang, it stands out for its programming that rejects genre boundaries, mixing black metal, death metal, grindcore, stoner rock, and shamanic folk within the same edition. This open and curious approach has won over a loyal audience, eager for sonic discoveries.
Night Visions: The Triumphant Return
After a six-year absence, Spirit in Black made its grand return in August 2025 with the "Night Visions" edition, which also celebrates ten years of the Headbang association. For the occasion, the festival expanded to three days and two venues emblematic of the Haut-Rhin region: Le Grillen in Colmar for the Friday and Saturday metal nights, and the Nef des Dominicains de Haute-Alsace in Guebwiller for a Sunday dedicated to more atmospheric and incantatory sounds.
An International and Demanding Program
The 2025 edition brought together internationally renowned artists such as Suffocation, pioneers of technical death metal, 3 Inches of Blood, Necrowretch, and To The Grave for the most extreme registers. The more alternative side featured Valley of the Sun (stoner), Dirty Deep (blues rock), Escuela Grind (grindcore), and HRFTR. Sunday in Guebwiller highlighted Luc Arbogast and his show "Vox Hypnosis", Hrafngrimr, and Askemåne, in the majestic setting of the Nef des Dominicains.
Two Venues, One Energy
Le Grillen, a legendary concert hall in Colmar located at 19 rue des Jardins, offers an intimate setting ideal for metal concerts. The Nef des Dominicains in Guebwiller, a former 13th-century convent, brings a unique spiritual and acoustic dimension to Sunday's performances. Between concerts, festival-goers can enjoy food trucks, a biergarten, and outdoor entertainment, in a friendly and passionate atmosphere.

By car: Colmar is accessible via the A35 (Colmar Centre exit). Guebwiller is located about 25 km southwest of Colmar via the D430.
