Birth of a Farm Punk Festival
In 2022, a collective of punk and rock music enthusiasts founded the Temple Fest association and launched the first edition of the festival at the Ferme du Temple, a farm located in the town of Osmoy-Saint-Valery, about ten kilometers from Dieppe. The choice of location was not insignificant: the farm offers an authentic rural setting, far from traditional commercial circuits, in perfect harmony with the DIY (Do It Yourself) ethos of the punk rock scene.
The concept is simple and radical: bring together bands from punk rock, surf rock, rock'n'roll, and garage rock in an unusual place, offer free camping, food made from organic and local products, and create a temporary community of enthusiasts for two days. The festival refuses sponsorships from major alcohol brands and favors a solidarity-based and responsible economy.
A Human-Sized International Festival
Despite its youth, Temple Festival has quickly found its audience and its place in the landscape of French independent festivals. Each edition features about fifteen bands from France and abroad, mixing emerging acts and established artists from the international punk, rock, and surf scene.
The 2026 edition, the fifth of its name, will notably feature Canadians Cancer Bats (Toronto), New Scots The Boojums, and French bands like Red Flag (Rouen), Pneu (Tours), and Camellia Sinensis (Lille). The festival has also previously programmed acts such as It It Anita (Belgium), SERVO (Normandy), Clavicule (Rennes), and Bikini Beach.
On Friday, the gates open at 5 PM and the concerts continue until 3 AM. On Saturday, the day begins at 10 AM with breakfast served to campers, and the concerts resume in the afternoon until 3 AM. This organization allows for a full immersion in the festival's community experience.
An Ethical and Environmental Commitment
Temple Festival stands out for its eco-responsible commitment. All food is organic and local, meals are offered at solidarity prices (around 7 euros), and the festival raises awareness among festival-goers about respecting the agricultural environment they are visiting. Outside alcohol and dogs are prohibited to preserve the tranquility of the site and the quality of the event.
This ethical positioning, combined with a demanding musical program and the unique atmosphere of a festival in the Norman countryside, makes Temple Festival a must-attend event for lovers of alternative music in Normandy.
