High-altitude electronic music festival in Chamonix-Mont-Blanc
Born in 2015 from the spirit of the Black Crows Weekend, The Unlimited Festival is a unique event that merges electronic music and the mountains in the heart of Chamonix-Mont-Blanc. For five days in March, the festival takes over the ski slopes, summits, and venues of the resort to offer an immersive experience combining high-altitude DJ sets, concerts facing Mont-Blanc, and electro evenings in town. Driven by the Moving Mountains association, this independent, non-profit project has become a must-attend event for electronic music and mountain sports enthusiasts.
The story of The Unlimited Festival began in 2015, in the wake of the Black Crows Weekend, an event created by the eponymous Chamonix freeski brand. What was originally a niche party for freestyle ski and urban culture enthusiasts quickly transformed into a major electronic music festival, driven by the Moving Mountains Association, an independent collective of mountain and music lovers.
The concept is as simple as it is striking: bring the best electronic music DJs and producers to the most spectacular natural sites in the Alps, facing the roof of Europe. From stages set up at over 2,000 meters altitude to ephemeral clubs in town, The Unlimited Festival offers a total sensory experience where the power of the bass mixes with the majesty of the snow-capped peaks.
The strength of The Unlimited Festival lies in the diversity of its programming locations. High-altitude concerts transform the ski areas into open-air dance floors, with DJ sets at the top of the ski lifts and sessions on the slopes. In parallel, evenings in town take over Chamonix's venues and bars for intense electro nights that extend into the early morning.
The programming covers a wide spectrum of electronic music: house, techno, drum and bass, ambient, and bass music coexist in a curated selection that mixes international headliners and emerging talents. The festival cultivates a community atmosphere where the passion for the mountains and music creates bonds between audiences from all over Europe.
Building on its success in Chamonix, The Unlimited Festival has developed a network of satellite events in Alpine resorts under the brand Unlimited Folie. Editions are organized in Les Arcs, Avoriaz, Val d'Isère, and Alpe d'Huez, as well as a major event in Tignes each spring. This expansion demonstrates the relevance of a concept that has created its own genre: the mountain electro festival.
Aware of the ecological impact of an event in a mountain environment, The Unlimited Festival is committed to environmental responsibility, with awareness campaigns, waste reduction, and carbon offsetting initiatives. The Moving Mountains association carries these values at the heart of the project, seeking to reconcile celebration with respect for the Alpine environment.
The Unlimited Festival returns to Chamonix-Mont-Blanc from March 25 to 29, 2026, for a new edition combining high-altitude electronic music and evenings in town. Five days of DJ sets on the ski slopes and in the resort's clubs, facing Mont-Blanc.
