The oldest jazz festival in Hauts-de-France, rooted in Tourcoing since 1986
The Tourcoing Jazz Festival was born in 1986, making it one of the oldest jazz festivals in France. Rooted in the city of Tourcoing, in the heart of the Lille European Metropolis, it has established itself as an essential reference for lovers of jazz and improvised music in Hauts-de-France.
While jazz remains the festival's guiding principle, the program is widely open to world music, blues, soul, and funk. Each edition mixes internationally renowned artists and emerging talents, offering a complete panorama of contemporary jazz scenes. Over the decades, the festival has hosted prestigious names, confirming its influence far beyond regional borders.
Concerts take place in the iconic venues of Tourcoing: the municipal theater, the conservatory, the Saint-Christophe church, and other heritage sites in the city. Le Grand Mix, a contemporary music venue, also hosts some evenings. This diversity of locations contributes to the intimate and warm atmosphere that characterizes the festival.
Beyond the main week in October, the Tourcoing Jazz Festival offers "off-site" concerts in the spring and throughout the year, enriching the metropolitan area with jazz events in clubs, venues, and unusual places.
Organized by the Association Culturelle Tourquennoise (ACT), the festival relies on a passionate team and a network of dedicated volunteers. ACT works to promote jazz and improvised music in the region, with a strong commitment to cultural mediation and artistic education.
