About Trail de Sancerre
Trail de Sancerre — edition 2026
On Saturday, June 13, 2026, the Sancerre Trail returns to the heart of the vineyard for an exceptional edition, marking the 90th anniversary of the Sancerre AOP appellation. On the program: the creation of the Ultra du Piton, an unprecedented 90 km duo course (2500 m D+) limited to 45 teams, which starts around midnight from Champ Loiseau, in addition to the five traditional events open to all levels.
A vintage edition for the 90th anniversary of Sancerre AOP
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Sancerre appellation (1936-2026), the Sancerre Trail reinvents itself on Saturday, June 13, 2026, and offers, in addition to the usual races, an exceptional event reserved for this edition: the Ultra du Piton, a 90 km duo orientation trail crossing the fourteen communes of Sancerrois, with 2500 m of positive elevation gain.
The Ultra du Piton, the 2026 novelty
Open to only 45 teams of 2 runners (90 places in total), this night race starts around midnight from Champ Loiseau - Rempart des Dames. The course is structured into three distinct loops (25, 30, and 35 km) to be completed autonomously, without marking, with a QR code orientation system to scan. The last loop coincides with that of La Magnum. Price: 110 € per person. Applications opened on January 12, 2026, via a form with Protiming registration on February 16 (FFA licensees) or February 18 (non-licensees).
The five traditional races
The Sancerre Trail remains faithful to its family format with five events accessible to all levels, around Champ Loiseau in Sancerre. Nearly 3,000 participants and 400 volunteers are expected at the event.
A unique playground: the Sancerre vineyard
Each course offers 360° panoramas of the Sancerre hillsides and the Loire Valley. Refreshment points are set up in the heart of the vineyards, and each participant leaves with a bottle of Sancerre and a tasting glass. Showers, changing rooms, shuttles, and parking facilitate the organization of the day.
