Trail starting from the Commanderie d'Avalleur between vineyards and medieval heritage
The Trail l'Aube des Templiers draws its name and identity from the Templar Commanderie d'Avalleur, a listed historic monument, from which runners set off each year in July. This site, founded in the 12th century by the Knights Templar, offers a unique and historically rich starting point. Organized by the association Cours Jusqu'à l'Aube, the trail combines athletic effort with the discovery of the rich medieval heritage of Bar-sur-Seine and its surroundings, an alliance that constitutes the distinctive identity of this sporting event in the south of the Aube department.
The event offers four trail courses adapted to different runner profiles, as well as two hikes:
The courses of the Trail l'Aube des Templiers traverse landscapes of great diversity. Runners move through the vineyards of the Côte des Bar, planted with Pinot Noir, before plunging into the deep forests of Barséquanais. The route runs along the Seine valley, passes by refreshing waterfalls, and follows shaded forest paths. The climbs to the Tour de l'Horloge reward runners with a breathtaking panorama of the medieval town of Bar-sur-Seine and the surrounding hillsides. This diversity of terrain and landscapes makes the event one of the most picturesque trails in the Grand Est region.
Beyond the competition, the Trail l'Aube des Templiers is a friendly event that celebrates trail running in a unique heritage setting. The aid stations highlight local products, and the finish at the commanderie is an opportunity to share a festive moment among runners, volunteers, and supporters. The association Cours Jusqu'à l'Aube makes it a point of honor to offer meticulous organization with impeccable marking and enthusiastic volunteers. Registrations are open online on the official website, with a deadline generally set a few days before the race.
The Trail l'Aube des Templiers 2026 is expected in July 2026, starting from the Commanderie d'Avalleur in Bar-sur-Seine. The event should offer its usual courses from 8 to 46 km through the vineyards of the Côte des Bar, the forests of Barséquanais, and the medieval heritage of the region.
The precise dates and registration details will be announced in spring 2026 on coursjusqualaube.com.
