Auxois Steam Train

A Resurrected Historic Line

The Auxois Steam Train is operated by the association Chemin de Fer de la Vallée de l'Ouche (CFVO), created in 1978 to preserve and operate a section of the old Épinac line, one of the oldest railway lines in France, built in 1830. The 7-kilometer route on Decauville narrow gauge (0.60 m gauge) connects the Bligny-sur-Ouche station to Pont-d'Ouche, on the banks of the Burgundy Canal.

Festi'Vapeur, the Highlight of the Season

Every August 15th, the CFVO organizes Festi'Vapeur, an exceptional day dedicated to railway heritage. From 10 am to 6 pm, visitors can admire several operational locomotives, participate in activities, and discover the behind-the-scenes operations of a steam railway. This event attracts train enthusiasts and families from all over Burgundy.

A Living Heritage Driven by Volunteers

Throughout the season, from May to September, the steam train runs on Sundays and public holidays with three daily departures from Bligny-sur-Ouche. The association also offers steam driving courses, allowing participants to drive a locomotive, and themed trains. The ongoing restoration of a Decauville 6304 locomotive, supported by the Fondation du patrimoine, demonstrates the volunteers' commitment to preserving this unique industrial heritage.
