In the heart of the Bressuire bocage, far from the beaches of Havana and the alleys of Trinidad, a festival celebrates Cuban joie de vivre and the enchanting rhythms of salsa every year. Un Dia Alegre, organized by the Salsa Bressuire association, is a unique event in the Deux-Sèvres region: an entire day dedicated to Latin dances and Cuban music, transforming Bressuire into a giant dance floor.

A Festive Day from Morning to Night

The festival unfolds over a full day, usually a Saturday in May. The afternoon is dedicated to dance introductions and workshops: Cuban salsa, rueda de casino, bachata, kizomba. Specialized instructors lead the workshops, accessible to beginners and experienced dancers alike. The goal is to allow everyone to discover Latin American rhythms in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

Cuban Music Concerts in the Evening

In the evening, the party heats up with Cuban and Latin music concerts. The festival has notably hosted Papa Jive and the African Salsa Orchestra, bands that blend Afro-Cuban sounds, son montuno, timba, and African influences. The energy of the musicians and the quality of the arrangements turn each concert into a moment of musical and dance communion.

Salsa Bressuire: A Passionate Association

The Salsa Bressuire association, founded by Latin dance enthusiasts, offers weekly classes throughout the year in kizomba, semba, Cuban salsa, Puerto Rican salsa, konpa, and bachata. The Un Dia Alegre festival is the highlight of their season, an opportunity to bring together the dance community of the Bressuire bocage and beyond, in a spirit of celebration and sharing.
