The magic of Christmas in the heart of Cholet
Every year in December, Place Travot in Cholet transforms into an authentic traditional mountain village to host the Christmas Market. Around an imposing reconstructed church, wooden chalets house artisans and creators who present their crafts, while food lovers can enjoy mulled wine, raclette, oysters, and chocolates. Organized by the City of Cholet in partnership with local cultural collectives and downtown merchants, this magical event offers three weeks of entertainment, concerts, and gastronomic discoveries.
Every December, Place Travot transforms into a true traditional mountain village. Under a veil of luminous snow, wooden chalets line up around an imposing reconstructed church, recreating the warm atmosphere of villages of yesteryear. This magical setting hosts the Cholet Christmas Market, which has become an unmissable event for the end-of-year celebrations in Maine-et-Loire.
The Cholet Christmas Market is divided into several complementary areas. The Traditional Christmas Market brings together artisans and creators who offer their original creations: jewelry, ceramics, decorations, textiles, and unique items, perfect for Christmas gifts. The Christmas Market for Food Lovers invites you to savor the pleasures of the table: mulled wine, charcuterie, raclette, oysters, crepes, chocolates, and other seasonal delicacies. Finally, the Christmas Workshop Market offers creative workshops for all ages.
Throughout the period, the market comes alive with aperitif concerts on Friday evenings, children's shows, parades of magical characters, and participatory activities. The Christmas ice rink, set up on Place Travot, complements the festive and family-friendly offerings. The city center illuminations and the decorated shop windows contribute to creating a magical atmosphere throughout the city.
The Cholet Christmas Market is the result of a collaboration between the City of Cholet, the cultural collectives Jamais Trop d'Art ! and Pour Ma Pomme, the media library, the toy library, the Cholet Museums, the Cholet Conservatory, the Tourist Office, and the downtown merchants. This synergy makes it possible to offer a rich and varied program, combining culture, gastronomy, and conviviality for three weeks.
The Cholet Christmas Market 2026 will take over Place Travot from early December for three weeks of magic. Artisan chalets, a gourmet market, creative workshops, aperitif concerts, and activities for the whole family will mark the end-of-year celebrations in the heart of Cholet's city center.
The Cholet Christmas Market returns in early December 2026 to enchant young and old alike. Place Travot will once again host its wooden chalets, artisan creators, gourmet market, and festive activities. The full program will be announced in autumn 2026.
