The festive and playful book festival in Mijoux
Valselivres is a festive and playful book festival organized every summer in Mijoux, in the Haut-Jura, by the libraries of Lélex and Mijoux. For two days, this free and family-friendly event offers surprising activities around books and reading, meetings with authors, conferences, creative workshops, and moments of discovery for the whole family. Valselivres transforms the village of Mijoux into a joyful and offbeat book celebration, in the mountainous and friendly spirit of the Haut-Jura.
Born from the initiative of the libraries of Lélex and Mijoux, the Valselivres festival is an original literary event held every summer in the village of Mijoux, at the foot of the Jura massif. For five editions, this free and family-friendly festival has offered a playful and festive approach to books, far from the traditional formats of literary fairs.
Valselivres stands out for its resolutely festive and participatory approach to the world of books. The festival doesn't just line up signing stands: it transforms the village of Mijoux into a literary playground where books are an excuse for meeting, discovery, and entertainment. The activities are designed to surprise and amuse, with unusual reading moments, artistic performances, and original creative workshops.
Each edition of Valselivres offers a rich and eclectic program:
Located on the border between the Jura and Ain departments, the village of Mijoux is nestled at the foot of the Col de la Faucille and the Monts Jura ski resort. This exceptional mountain setting gives the festival a unique atmosphere, blending grandiose landscapes with a mountain village ambiance. Festival-goers enjoy a weekend combining literary discovery and the great outdoors of the Jura.
Entry to the festival is completely free, reflecting the organizers' desire to make books and reading accessible to everyone. The friendly and relaxed atmosphere encourages exchanges between authors and readers, in a spirit of sharing and good humor characteristic of the festival.
Valselivres benefits from the support of the municipalities of Mijoux and Lélex, as well as institutional and associative partners in the region. The festival contributes to the summer cultural animation of the Haut-Jura and attracts a diverse audience, including permanent residents, holidaymakers, and literature enthusiasts.
Valselivres will return in the summer of 2026 to Mijoux for its 6th edition. The program and specific dates will be announced in the spring of 2026. Free entry.
