Villers BD

An annual event for comic strip lovers

Created in 2013, Villers BD has become in a few years a major event for comic strip enthusiasts in the Nancy metropolitan area. Organized by the association Villers BD, this festival is held every May in Villers-lès-Nancy, a town bordering Nancy, and welcomes thousands of visitors over two days.

A rich and varied author fair

The heart of the festival is its author fair, which brings together more than forty illustrators and scriptwriters at each edition to sign their albums and meet the public. The program mixes established authors and emerging talents, covering all genres of comic strips: Franco-Belgian comics, manga, graphic novels, children's comics, crime, and science fiction.

Exhibitions and meetings

Villers BD offers numerous thematic exhibitions on comic strips and illustration. Each edition is structured around a unifying theme — for 2026, the chosen theme is « Draw your journey through time ». Meetings and discussions with authors allow the public to discover the behind-the-scenes of creation.

Workshops and activities

The festival offers many drawing and creation workshops for both children and adults. These participatory activities allow visitors to learn comic strip drawing, manga, or illustration under the guidance of professional authors.

An amateur comic strip contest

The Villers BD association organizes an annual amateur comic strip contest open to all, related to the edition's theme. This contest allows aspiring illustrators to submit their creations and have their work exhibited during the festival, offering a great showcase for emerging comic strip talents.

Charming venues

The festival takes place in two emblematic sites of Villers-lès-Nancy: the Centre des Écraignes and the Château Madame de Graffigny, offering a pleasant and suitable setting for hosting exhibitions, signings, and activities in a friendly and family-oriented atmosphere.
