About Vivoin Festival
The Festival de Vivoin takes place at the Prieuré Saint-Hippolyte in Vivoin, Sarthe, focusing on repertoire music ranging from early origins to contemporary works. Each edition features ensembles specializing in early and baroque music, offers tours of the priory and opportunities to meet the artists, and seeks to bridge the gap between music and the visual arts.
Vivoin Festival — edition 2026
For its 2026 edition, the Festival de Vivoin takes the Apocalypse as its central theme, running from September 17th to 20th at the Prieuré Saint-Hippolyte. The ensembles Irini, Il Caravaggio, Théodora, Amarillis, and Matheus will perform in concert, alongside a lecture by musicologist Raphaëlle Legrand and an exhibition dedicated to the same theme.
A week centered on the Apocalypse
Wednesday, September 16th, kicks off the festival with free, open-access conducting masterclasses titled "Femmes à la baguette." On Thursday, September 17th, at 5:30 PM, concerts will be held aboard the TER train on the Le Mans-Alençon line, followed by the "Apocalypse" performance by the Irini ensemble that same evening.
The weekend features a mix of concerts, dinners, and lunches on the grass with the artists, a tour of the "Apocalypse 1-14-21" exhibition, and a historical tour of the priory. The festival concludes on Sunday, September 20th, with a free open-air concert by the Orchestre d'Harmonie des Alpes Mancelles.
