The meeting point for extreme music in the Tarn
Created in 2014 by the association Pollux, Xtreme Fest is the reference festival for extreme music in the south of France. Every summer, the Cap Découverte site in Le Garric, a former open-pit mine converted into a leisure center, hosts three days of punk rock, hardcore, metal, and related music. With a sharp lineup mixing underground scene legends and emerging bands, Xtreme Fest attracts a passionate audience from all over Europe in a friendly and committed atmosphere.
Since 2014, Xtreme Fest has established itself as the unmissable event for extreme music in the south of France. Organized by the association Pollux, this festival stands out for its demanding lineup and its spectacular venue: Cap Découverte, a former open-pit coal mine converted into a leisure center, located in Le Garric, a few kilometers from Albi and Carmaux.
The post-industrial setting of Cap Découverte gives Xtreme Fest a unique atmosphere, both raw and grandiose. The stages are set up in the heart of this natural amphitheater carved out by mining operations, offering incomparable acoustics and ambiance. The site also features an integrated campsite, swimming areas, and outdoor activities, allowing festival-goers to make the most of their stay.
Each year, Xtreme Fest presents a lineup that showcases the various facets of extreme music: punk rock, hardcore, metal, post-hardcore, grindcore, ska-punk, and many other subgenres. Over the years, the festival has hosted legendary bands such as Hatebreed, Madball, The Exploited, Agnostic Front, Mass Hysteria, and Lofofora, alongside emerging European and international acts.
The event generally spans three main festival days, preceded by a warm-up evening in Carmaux and followed by a free after-party on Sunday. Several stages host simultaneous concerts from early afternoon until late at night, ensuring an intense and non-stop musical experience.
Beyond the music, Xtreme Fest cultivates values of solidarity, respect, and diversity. The festival is free for under-16s, demonstrating its commitment to accessibility. The Pollux association, which spearheads the project, advocates for a vibrant and independent music scene, far from traditional commercial circuits. This philosophy is reflected in the warm and welcoming atmosphere on-site, where mosh pits and slams coexist with exchanges between enthusiasts from all over Europe.
Xtreme Fest returns from July 30 to August 2, 2026, at Cap Découverte for its 12th edition. Ultra Vomit, Biohazard, The Ghost Inside, Agnostic Front, Lofofora, Sidilarsen, Deez Nuts, Guilt Trip, Resolve, and Slope are among the first announced names for three days of punk, metal, and hardcore in the heart of Tarn.
