Programme L'Astrolabe Prend le Large 2026
Summer Program 2026
L'Astrolabe Prend le Large once again takes over the entire Grand Figeac area throughout summer 2026 with its free open-air program, structured around several components: the Summer Tuesdays, Cinétoile under the stars, Astromobile Readings, and Heritage Walks. Admission is free for all activities.
Summer Tuesdays — Cour du Puy, Figeac
Every Tuesday evening throughout the summer, the Cour du Puy in Figeac hosts open-air concerts and live performances at 9 PM (free admission, relocation to Espace François-Mitterrand in case of bad weather). Among the announced events for the 2026 edition:
- Tuesday, August 4, 2026 — 9:30 PM — Smoky Boat · the musicians revisit the music of Greece and, more broadly, the great musical family of the Balkans and Turkey: deep songs carried by instruments, leading to a trance.
- Maria Mazzotta · world music (Italy). A figure of Italian tradition, she performs as a trio (Cristiano Della Monica on percussion and electronics, Ernesto Nobili on electric guitar) blending post-rock textures with the power of popular tradition.
- Bien Reprenons (compagnie Du Muerto Coco, Roman Gigoi-Gary) · theatre, live music, and radio creation.
- Le Retour des Beaux Jours · song.
Cinétoile under the stars — Grand Figeac municipalities
At nightfall, L'Astrolabe offers free open-air cinema screenings in the villages of the territory, preceded or followed by activities organized by the host municipalities (markets, concerts, picnics, hikes, guided tours, and readings). Participating municipalities announced for 2026: Sainte-Colombe, Capdenac-Gare, Montredon, Boussac, and Figeac, among others.
Astromobile Readings & Heritage Walks
L'Astromobile, the traveling library of the media library network, crisscrosses the territory for open-air reading moments, while the Heritage Walks (guided tours of approximately one hour, no reservation required, by the Pays d'art et d'histoire service) introduce visitors to the villages of Quercy Figeacois.
The complete and detailed day-by-day program is progressively unveiled on the L'Astrolabe Grand-Figeac website and the Grand-Figeac Tourist Office agenda.

L'Astrolabe Prend le Large: Culture Beyond Walls in Grand Figeac
Every summer, L'Astrolabe, the cultural service of the Grand Figeac community of communes, casts off its moorings to meet residents and visitors throughout the territory. L'Astrolabe Prend le Large is a multidisciplinary summer program that combines music, cinema, readings, and heritage in open-air venues, offering a different and friendly way to experience culture.
Summer Tuesdays: Open-Air Concerts and Performances
Every Tuesday evening, the Cour du Puy in Figeac transforms into an open-air stage. Amidst old stones and century-old cypress trees, the Summer Tuesdays host concerts and live performances of various styles: world music, jazz, French chanson, traditional music, and contemporary creations. These free evenings have become an unmissable event of the Figeac summer, attracting families and music lovers in an enchanting setting.
Cinema Under the Stars
The Cinétoile sous les étoiles program offers open-air film screenings in the villages and communes of Grand Figeac. At nightfall, around 10 p.m., screens light up under the starry sky for free screenings open to all. The host communes offer complementary activities beforehand: gourmet markets, hikes, guided tours, and readings, turning each evening into a true village festival.
Readings on the Astromobile
The Astromobile, an itinerant library from the Grand Figeac network of media libraries, travels the territory throughout the summer to offer open-air reading sessions. Under the trees of an English garden or in the shade of a market hall, these literary events invite young and old to discover selected stories and texts, as part of the national operation Partir en livre.
Heritage Walks
The Heritage Walks reveal the secrets of the villages of Grand Figeac through guided tours of about an hour, without reservation, organized by the Pays d'art et d'histoire service. These cultural strolls allow visitors to discover the built heritage, local stories, and remarkable landscapes of the Figeac Quercy region.
An Event Rooted in the Territory
L'Astrolabe Prend le Large embodies Grand Figeac's commitment to making culture accessible everywhere and for everyone. Since the program's launch after the opening of L'Astrolabe in 2016, the event has continued to grow, irrigating about thirty communes each summer with quality artistic offerings. Admission is free for all activities, making this summer event a moment of sharing and conviviality open to the greatest number.
