Contemporary Music Festival with Pay-What-You-Want Admission in the Heart of Morvan
Un Week-End à Lormes is a pay-what-you-want contemporary music festival held every July in Lormes, within the Morvan Regional Natural Park (Nièvre). Organized by the WAL association (Festival Week-end à Lormes), created in 1996, it offers three days of evening concerts by the Étang du Goulot and shorter daytime performances in the town's streets and heritage sites. The program embraces contemporary music in all its diversity: chanson, folk, world music, electro, rap. The festival will celebrate its thirtieth anniversary in 2026.
Un Week-End à Lormes is a pay-what-you-want contemporary music festival organized every July by the WAL association (Festival Week-end à Lormes), in the heart of the Morvan Regional Natural Park in Nièvre. The association, created in 1996, will celebrate the festival's thirtieth anniversary in 2026.
The festival has had three successive identities carried by the same association: it was born in 1996 as the Festival de la Chanson Française, then became Festival C — Chanson Française et Cirque Nouveau, and then took its current name of Un Week-End à Lormes by opening up to all contemporary music. Today, this latter name is officially used by the organizers.
The festival unfolds over three days, from Friday to Sunday, between the Étang du Goulot and the center of Lormes. The evenings are dedicated to large concerts by the water, in an exceptional natural setting. The daytime takes over the town with shorter, more intimate formats: musical aperitifs, concerts in the squares, performances at various local heritage sites.
Free participation is at the heart of the project: admission is not priced, everyone gives what they can or what they want at the end of the weekend. This is one of the festival's signatures — making culture accessible to everyone, in a rural setting, without economic barriers. The event is run by a team of volunteers, supported by local authorities and the Morvan Regional Natural Park.
The program embraces contemporary music in all its diversity: French chanson, folk, world music, electro, rap, hybrid forms. The artistic direction favors discovery and eclecticism, mixing established artists and young talents. Additional events (shows for young audiences, workshops, circus activities, partnerships with the literary festival Nature en Livres in some editions) complement the concerts.
Anniversary edition: Un Week-End à Lormes celebrates its 30th anniversary from Friday, July 17th to Sunday, July 19th, 2026, at Étang du Goulot and in the center of Lormes. Three days of contemporary music with free pricing, evening concerts by the water, and shorter daytime shows in the town. Detailed program awaiting official publication by the association.
The 2026 edition of Un Week-End à Lormes marks the festival's thirtieth anniversary, continuing the legacy of the Festival de la Chanson Française (created in 1996) and then the Festival C — Chanson Française et Cirque Nouveau. Three days of contemporary music with free pricing at Étang du Goulot and in the center of Lormes, in the heart of the Parc naturel régional du Morvan.
Evening concerts by the water, shorter daytime shows in the town, local cultural partnerships: the spirit of the festival remains that of a popular, accessible celebration rooted in the territory.
ℹ️ The detailed program for this 30th edition has not yet been unveiled by the association. This page will be updated as soon as the WAL association publishes the full line-up. In the meantime, you can follow announcements directly on the official walfestival.fr website, the Facebook page, or the festival's Instagram.
